Your Rights as a Patient

At Countesswells Dental Practice, we are committed to treating all patients with dignity, respect and care. As a patient you have the following rights:

  • To be treated with respect, dignity and without discrimination
  • To receive clear information about your treatment options, costs and risks
  • To give or withhold informed consent before any treatment begins
  • To access your dental records within 30 days of a Subject Access Request
  • To have your personal information kept confidential in accordance with UK GDPR
  • To make a complaint without fear of it affecting your care
  • To receive treatment in a safe, clean and hygienic environment

NHS Patients

As an NHS-registered practice, NHS patients also have rights under the NHS Constitution including the right to start consultant-led treatment within 18 weeks of referral, and the right to be treated with a professional standard of care.

Making a Complaint

If you are unhappy with any aspect of your care, please speak to our practice manager in the first instance. You may also contact the Scottish Dental Complaints Service or the General Dental Council.
